I must admit, I am a sucker when it comes to buying items with funny, cute or heartwarming sayings on them. Whenever I see items like that on sale, I pick them up for gifts. I usually end up keeping them, but the intention was there.
I am not a hoarder, I just like novelties, quotes and sayings.
What is funny for an adult, is not always the same for a child. Did you know most cartoons are rarely understood by children, its the colours, textures, shapes and expressions on faces that make the child laugh?
I do think the T-shirt in the photo below is cute, however, the child probably cannot read it, therefore, its really only funny for the adults or older children who can read.
Look at if from the child’s perspective, if he went out with this shirt, unaware, and everyone he passed laughed at him, what do you suppose he will be thinking? That they are laughing at his shirt or at him?
Every so often, I do find cute items that are actually created with child humour that are worth mentioning.
Child humour is more about depiction than wording.
Take for example ~ this cute little Panda t-shirt from Six Things, the humour does not need to be explained and while a child may not completely understand the concept behind the making of babies, they can easily see two different colored pandas = one two coloured one. Not to mention the bear’s face is ridiculously funny. Yes, its funny!
Laughter is the best medicine and encouraging your child to laugh and have fun is very important. Encouraging them by purchasing funny things that they can wear, put on their walls and carry around with them, helps to provide them with some much needed comic relief throughout a long stressful day.
Just be mindful that what you think is funny, your child may not understand. If your child cannot read, read and explain the joke to them, so they will know what everyone is laughing at and they can be part of the laugh, not the butt of the joke. Dealing with children is all in how you look at things, I try to always look at the world from a child’s point of view when it comes to Kids products and education.
Nothing is black and white in kid world, and every age brings new challenges, new strategies and new points of view but the basic ideals still remain, try to remember what it was like to be a kid and you can never go wrong.

When my girl was ten years old, I was fascinated by her ability to create websites on Piczo.com. She was always finding new ways to improve her website and I encouraged her to use it as long as she kept it private. It taught her the fundamentals of basic web design and I thought that would be valuable for her someday. Photo: PBI-now.com Piczo has long been forgotten, overtaken by newer more modern social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter that allow children to communicate, share messages and stay up to date with current events. In our day, it … Continue reading

What is Glamping? Glamping can best be described as the common name for a trendy form of camping known as glamorous or luxurious camping. Unlike regular camping, “glampers” do not sleep in plastic dome tents on the floor or in sleeping bags, in fact, some “glamping” spots are so beautiful, they are considered comparable to a five star hotel room. Source: wildretreat.com via Starla on Pinterest Based on the idea that many individuals and families love the experience of camping, but do not like to “rough” it, glamping was developed as a alternative means to enjoy this popular past time.
