Easter bonnets are one of the easiest craft projects that you can do with your children over the holiday period. The hats base can be made from just about anything, including pie plates, paper, cardboard and an old felt or straw hat. The idea is to decorate the base with flowers, ribbons, eggs and other colourful adornments to make beautiful Easter hat creations, like the one in the picture below.

Remember an Easter hat does not have to be as outlandish as the one above, a few ribbons and flowers will suffice. Its design depends on how your child wants his or her hat to look and how much time and effort your child puts into creating it.
There is no set standard for bonnets. Easter hats come in a variety of different shapes, colours and sizes, from very simple designs like the one seen below to the more complex ones like the one pictured above.
Each hat is as unique and different as the child who makes it, and that is what makes them so special.

If your school or church does not have an Easter parade that your child can participate in, perhaps you can gather your child’s friends or some neighbourhood kids and have an Easter parade of your very own.
Have each child create their own Easter bonnet and then encourage the children to march through the neighbourhood in their beautiful Easter attire singing the most famous Easter song of all, “In my Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it, I’ll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade.”
Children love to make things when then are given an opportunity to show it to the world and what better way to do that then while marching in a parade?
It does not take much preparation or experience to create Easter bonnets, you simply need to create a hat and decorate it. Decorations for bonnets include things like paper and plastic flowers, coloured eggs, ribbons and other Easter adornments.
Here are some Easter bonnet inspirations for you and your child to consider making for this Easter holiday. Perhaps once your child has his or her hat, they will want to parade around in it. You will never know until you give it a try!
I love this elegant paper flower hat from twirlingbetty and I think anyone can easily make this.
This hat below is a really neat bird’s nest on a paper plate base from lottielulu.
Sarahmumof3′s straw hat is so cute with its animal adornments that It does not need anything else to make it special.
What will your hat be made of and what will you decorate it with? I have not decided on what I will do quite yet, all I know is that it will have some green and purple because those are my favourite Easter colours.
Show us your Easter bonnet and we will post it on our social media for the world to see.

family interview books

These get to know your family interview books I stumbled upon in Kids Product Directory from Design Child are one of the most thoughtful and meaningful keepsakes that I have come across in quite a long while. Kids Product Directory Grandma Interview Book Each book is intended to help a child to get to know a particular member of their family in a more intimate way by creating a kind of “scrapbook” of the family member. It is similar to a baby book in reverse whereby the child is creating a book of his or her family members. Each book is geared towards a … Continue reading

When I was an early childhood educator, many years ago, one of the things I learned quickly was that when it comes to children, adequate storage is a number one priority. The same is true for a well organized household. If you make storage areas hard for your child to reach to understand, you will be forever picking up and arranging toys, clothes or other children’s items. A well organized home is a better and more stable environment for raising a child. Children will mess it throughout the day and this is normal, they need to play. While we do … Continue reading

Discipline is not one of those things we like to do or talk about as parents and most often we hope we can just simply avoid it all together. We know this is not possible, children will push limits, this is how they learn. It is our job as parents to help guide them and yes sometimes discipline is a necessary evil. Source: thegreenhead.com via Amy on Pinterest If you set reasonable boundaries at a young age and stick to your limits, you will most likely have an easier time with discipline, your children will know how far they can … Continue reading

its a kids world after all

I have come to the realization that the décor, fashion and activities I like the most are designed for children. Is this because I am still just a big kid at heart or do they just not make the things I like in grown up sizes? Why can’t grown ups cuddle with a soft blanket or hide in a nice cosy corner to read a book? I will never understand that concept, if I like it, and it makes me feel good, why can’t I have one too? Whatever the case my be, I have decided that regardless of the fact that these … Continue reading

We are always concerned with our children’s future but rarely seem to be concerned about the future for our children and if we do not start thinking about ways to secure that, there may not be a future for them. Introducing environmentally safe alternatives to babies and encouraging other “baby” mums to do the same is a great and admirable contribution to sustainability. Environmental change begins one step, one person and one idea at a time. You can be that change in the world, just by being an eco-friendly baby mum. The idea of creating change is simple, if you … Continue reading

My number one resolution for new year’s is always the same, to spend more time with family and friends. I am not alone, according to About.com, this is the number one resolution for 2013. Each year, I plan a monthly family event. During the holidays, everyone agrees that it is a great idea and they would love to do it, unfortunately, I can never get anyone to participate in those activities come January. I used to find this discouraging, however, my resolution for this year, is to not to let any form of negativity enter into my life. I will … Continue reading

what is an eni puzzle

Move over Rubix cube, Eni Puzzle is about to take over the hand held puzzle world with its unique design, shape and bold colour patterns. The latest puzzle craze for children of all ages is called Eni Puzzle and its a big hit because of its simple design and no fault instructions, literally: there are none. Easter, Halloween and Christmas are holidays synonymous with huge amounts of chocolate and other “sugary” treats. I have never been a huge fan of giving sugar to children, so I try to create and offer home baked sugar-free treats to my kids rather than simply provide commercially bought candies or chocolate. The trick to getting kids to eat healthier snacks is mostly in the decorating part. If you make your treats attractive enough, your kids will choose them over store bought more often. Wouldn’t you rather eat these adorable cookies made from Molly-Meg Gingerdead Men Cookie cutters instead of regular old gingerbread … Continue reading
